About Mt Makalu Expedition in detail:

Mt Makalu Expedition is among the most challenging expedition in Nepal, comprising of perfect pyramid shaped four ridge mountains with a history of 5 successful climbing among the first 16 attempts. First climbed by French Team in 1955, the mountain possesses a lot of variation on the ground making it challenging in terms of its demanding nature of climbers’ skills and strength.

Mt Makalu features a largely diversified landscape that makes the climb more interesting and tactical than any other mountain. The bottom part starting from the base of the West Face at 5,800 meters and climbing to the hanging ice-fall at 6100 meters to the right part of the ice-fall and the second part extending from the plateau above the ice-fall along 35 to 45 degree elevated rock up to the 6500 meters high making it quite a test of rock and ice cliff climbing skill. The next phase is an ice-rock wall of 50-55 degrees steep extending to 7400 meters in height and the final climb commencing from 70 to 75 degree elevated rock pillar leading to the west ridge at 8000 meters height and continuing till the summit.

Mt Makalu (8463), the fifth highest mountain is a secluded peak located about 14 miles east of Mt Everest but dignifies itself with the unique features and location. Starting from a flight to Tumlingtar, the trek to the summit heads through the village of the legendary Sherpas and the beautiful Arun Valley. The expedition to the summit is not only the glory of reaching the peak but also the accompanying cultural insights and the beauty of valley and gorges we meet during the trek.
