The Helambu Trek is the perfect short trek to enjoy the abundant diversified range of culture and spectacular scenery in Langtang and Helambu region. Located about 72 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu valley, it extends its length from Taramarang to the edge of Gosainkunda Lake and the slopes of Jugal Himal providing you with not just the close-ups of snowcapped regions of Langtang region but also chance to see several highland Tamang and Sherpa villages decorated traditionally friendly wise. Despite being so close to Kathmandu valley the region remains relatively un-spoilt giving you access to the natures ultimate gifts of beauty as the trip is accompanied by green bamboo forests, rhododendron, regal waterfalls and snow capped Himalayas also making the trip one of the most diverse in its kind. The people, their culture, their way of living, the highland monasteries and the colors of the Tibetan influenced culture makes the trip an enchanting experience. The trek starts with an hour drive from Kathmandu taking you to Sundarijal from where an hour walk takes us to Shivapuri National Park. Heading up towards Chisapani, and further to Kutumsang, Thadepati and Sermathang the trek tops at the Melamchi Pul Bazar in the Helambu region.
